...from far away. How stupid am I posting a shot after Erik and that shot of Don's? The light is not the best, as it was hazy and maybe around 10:00 a.m.last fall, but I am interested in your opinions.

You got Humboldt in there too. I like the comp. While the light is a little harsh, this shot might lend itself very well to a B&W conversion. I see a lot of possible tones to work with.

I also think this would be a good candidate for B&W. There are two problems for this in color. The shadow areas are very blue due to scattered light and that scattered light has reduced the contrast in those areas. A red, orange or yellow filter should turn this into a fine B&W image by pushing those blue shadows darker. But you may want to create a luminosity mask on the red channel, then invert it to focus on the blue shadows and increase the contrast there before going to the channel mixer.
O.k. here is the B&W version. Any better?
Thanks Mel, but you would have to come over and show me how to make a luminosity mask and pushing and all that stuff. I need a personal session with Nat Coalson, but no money!

Yes, I think the b&w is much better here and I'm not even a big b&w fan.
