If any of you are Grass Widow fans you better get out to Rowena Sail Park ASAP. I was just there and there were full fields of them.

Well lets see some pics! You can't build the hype and then just disappear. Geez...

Pretty much that's the place. If you had gone up to the place you all call "Rowena", but continue down the curves back to the highway, if you went under the highway and instead of taking a left to go back to Portland, you continued across the railroad tracks, took a right and headed all the way down that road to it's end. That's the Rowena Windsurfing Park.
There is lots of place to park, picnic tables, an outhouse, a marsh, and right now, tons of Grass Widows and a dead 6' long Sturgeon (over in the river at the west end of the park).

I was out there slacklining, I didn't have my camera.

I was there this evening Mark and will be there again in the morning - they are at peak right now and about a week later than last year. Hopefully it won't be too stormy tomorrow. Also, the glacier lilies should be popping open this weekend too.

Aaaaack! You're killin' me!! Now is when I wish OR was a lot closer… Glacier lillies? Ooh, I gotta hold my head… :frown:

Gees Mark– slacklining is more important than FIELDS full of flowers?? No camera??

Yeah, I know, how times change, eh? In fact, I just got asked to display my flower photos at a local gallery. I declined because I didn't feel that I had anything original, creative and compelling.

hmm... maybe I should try driving out there in the morning... I rented the 35L and wouldn't mind taking it to the Gorge for some shots... Sadly the weather doesn't look dry... or even slightly damp. It looks nasty wet!

Yup, Spring's a poppin'. The annual Daffodil Drive Festival happens in Junction City this weekend, ornamental plum trees are bursting into bloom on the coast and in the Willamette Valley and the Woodburn Tulip Festival starts next week. Back on topic: the grass widows should be blooming at Mount Pisgah Arboretum soon also.

I got lots of pics of them myself two days ago. The crop is really outstanding this year.
