Saw this mentioned in the paper yesterday and thought you'd all like to know:
The BLM is having some flower outings in the Alabamas and in the hills above Bodie starting next month on the 2nd. Here's the link.
Well just when I thought winter was over and spring was taking hold, we are getting a honest winter storm right now with snow here in bishop, as I type this, and up in the high country. With clearing skies tomorrow it should be great photo ops. but the snow won't stick around long 'cuase it's going to be warming up real fast.
Thanks for the continued updates from that area, Cory. Have you had a chance to scout the ALH area or even Division Creek yet? I'm trying to catch up on some ongoing projects here in So Cal before I head that way. If I do make the trek, it might be a last minute thing with little warning, but hopefuly we can still link up for shooting or at least coffee. Although last year was a bit of a bust because of the wind, I still came away with a couple keepers. Even though I had to use some loose shots without too much FG stuff, I can clearly see in the images a vast variety of colors from all the ground cover, no cactus of course.
Thanks for the heads up Cory. I'm also interested how the Division Creek area is progressing. I was up there last year towards the end of April I got hammered by the wind every morning just like you did Paul. Paul, let me know if and when you head up there because I would definitely like to get up there again this year. Would also be cool to meet you Cory, we seem to be in the same spots a lot of the time...check out ESS, I think we might have been there on the same morning.
Sounds good, Jason. I will try to post info here in CANP with as much lead time as possible.

Hey Paul & Jason. I almost made to AH today but got side tracked exploring just north of there below Williamson and Oak Creek area. The flowers I have been seeing around this area low on the alluvial fans are really small flowers of purple and yellows. Have noticed things are greening up quite a bit in the burn areas though. I was up Div. Creek last weekend and no lupine blooms yet, still much too early I think. Hopefully they got enough moisture this winter. there was a bit of snow today on the vegetation at the base of the crest, so every little bit helps. We'll find out in 2-3 more weeks I think.
Let me know if/when you guys might head up this way and maybe we can meet up.
Thanks Cory, it sounds like we are still a few weeks at least from things popping up there. We have already seen things happening down here, but then again, we live in a desert.
