Stopped to take this on the way to work yesterday, thought this scene was typically Northwest!
Thanks for looking, Joe

Nice shot Joe. I'd say it was worth the stop. The composition of the trees is really nice .

Very good work! Love the near tree and the left, and the color along the floor...

This is really stellar, Joe. There's nothing I don't like about it except I can't see it huge! I must ask though, why the 2.8? No tripod? Anyway, the detail is so exceptional up front I'm not sure if I'd really need everything to be in focus throughout, but hard to tell at web size.
Thanks all for your kind words. Marc, I didn't have a tripod, this was hand held. As with many of my shots lately, this one was opportunistic. I was on my way to work and pulled over to check something on my laptop, when this scene presented itself to me. I had to shoot from the side of the road, so I did the best I coud with the comp. Wish I had time to walk into the forest for more comps. I have a nice vertical comp as well that I'll post.
Wish I could post a larger version here, maybe I'll post it on ESS. I also wish I had a 1DS MK III instead of my little 6 meg camera, lol! Thanks for commenting!

Something about this looks very Adamus-like. I like the use of the rule of thirds and the comp of the trees, and the fog simplifies the background. Great eye to pick this out. If it were mine I might experiment with adjusting the tones a hair. Did you do much in the way of processing this?

Looks great, Joseph. I especially like the stand-out reds. I too was wondering about the 2.8 when your shutter speed was 250th. I hear you about the little 6 MP camera. For years I shot with a little 5 MP camera. You do the best with what you've got...
Thanks for the positive response, guys.
Adamus-like, Jay? Thanks for the compliment! I didn't do too much as far as processing goes, just some selective fill flash, some selective contrast adjustments, and some sharpening. I also removed some of the blue color cast the original had for a more natural look. This is pretty close to what I saw with my eyes. Also, I did not increase saturation at all.
Yeah Marc, I'm doing the best I can right now. More bills and not as large of a tax return as I had hoped means some more delay for a new camera, unfortunately!
