Shot Twin Lakes sunset-sunrise this weekend. Beat the NCAAs.
I used sunset as a scouting for sunrise, heres a shot after sunset, note the large volume of ice-free lake (March at 10K feet--scary)
Thats a beautiful area and some great shots Stan... the CDT goes right through there and that's Hope Pass in your last shot in the lefthand corner....one of the most precipitous climbs along the CDT (and CT) in the state. They run the Leadville 100 over that and you have to be in uber shape to attempt that.

#4 is really nice.... good colors and comp. The first three look overly blue to me (but maybe that's what you were going for).
Those are all good, Stan. #4 is the best for me, too. I do like the blues as a different expression. I saw this lake this calm last fall just before sunrise, too. It kind of freaked me out, because I had never seen it that calm. I like the calm lake and the streaking clouds in that one.
Hey Stan, nice series! #1 - only scary if you are trying to walk accross it # 2 I really like the monochromatic blue tones on this shot; it is amazing that you got the clarity in the reflection from such a long exposure. #4 has really nice, subtle light!

Great shots! I really like the color and the ice in the first image. Also like how dark the clouds are.

I really like 3 and 5. 5 has an almost 3D feel to the areas with sage. A productive trip, Stan.

I like the last one. It has a rising feel to it.

Overall, I like #4 the best because of the color balance, 1,2,3 are too blue for my tastes. If the color balance were warmed up a bit I would pick #2 and #3 as my favs.

Stan, 2 and 3 are my favorites. I love the blue tone to these and the reflections of number 2 are outstanding with that tone.
Thanks folks!
I was concerned about the blues in #3 as well (not #2, since this was shot in total darkness). I warmed these up from Auto WB (which was in the 5800K range) to 'shade' (6500K) and obviously theyre still blue, bluer than they looked in person for sure. But to get a more neutral color i would have to warm them up to 9000+K, and that really looks ugly to me. So i guess ill live with the blues--not too concerned since the ones on ESS are the ones i might add to my portfolio.
