From a trip to DV a few weeks ago....
1) Does the silhouette of the person distract or add depth?
2) Too much foreground?
3) Other thoughts
I am really torn on this one.
Thanks folks.

the shadow, light, and shapes go very well together. the silhouette is really difficult to see on my laptop. I like the comp and the foreground is fine. sharpness is great. would be very nice as large image and then the silhouette would be more helpful.

I think it's just the right amount of FG, and the composition is very good. My eye does tend to go out the right frame at the 1/3rd line from bottom, and gets lost at the top as well. I think that background could be burned down just a bit to help.
i like the idea of a person to add scale, but where they are in this image isn't quite pulling it's weight IMO.

I like the lighting and the inclusion of the person although if you hadn't mentioned that he/she was there I'm not sure I would have noticed or realized what it was (on my small 19 inch monitor). The only thing I find distracting is the number of, what I assume are, footprints.

The person is a nice unmentioned surprise for the viewer to discover. I think you may have to much of the shadowed immediate FG; my eye wants to stay down there. I did a scroll crop and it seems to work better as more of a pano shape. There looks like what might be a dust spot at about 2:00 from the figure.

I think the FG's fine -- I tried cropping it, and found there wasn't really a good place to do so, mainly thanks to the dominance of the vertically-split aread around the middle third of the photo. The only other option for a good crop seemed to be at the top of that split shadow, effectively turning the whole thing into a panorama, but probably leaving you with too few pixels for real pano use.
Also, while I first thought the human figure was a distraction, it looks good to me now.
