Sorry if I am appearing a bit thick.
I have this new montor 19 flat screen.I am on 1024x768 res.
If I open an upright picture then flip it 90 degrees it looks out of proportion (more squashed up )but the size given on the task bar is the same as the upright version.
Am I missing something here
If I create a square black canvas, it looks fine both ways .
Any help ?
Cheers

I'd suggest perhaps your video card might be a problem here John, I'm viewing this on a 19" HP that's running at a resolution of 1280x1024 - perhaps your card is not capable of driving the monitor properly.

What monitor and card combo are you using?

John you don’t say whether the monitor is a 4:3 or a wide screen, 19 inch monitors typically have native resolutions of 1280-1024 or 1440-900. The important thing is you should run a LCD monitor in its native res or text and images won’t be sharp.

Hope this helps
