Based on radar from Saturday, I headed up to King's River Falls early Sunday morning. I caught the warm sun peeking through upstream on this shot.

I think Tim Ernst has already reported the new trailhead but this was my first time to use it. I was very impressed with the work done and the well marked parking area on the road, as well as the new section of the trail to the falls. I was a little worried when I pulled into the parking lot at 7:00am and there were two vehicles there already. I could picture tents set up all around the falls, but I was happy to find these campers had set up well away from the river. In fact I was there for almost 1-1/2 hours and they never came out of their tents. They must have stayed up late! I did see one of their dogs roaming around when I was leaving but with the roar of the falls they may not have known I was there.
One more note, I did not see too much damage from the ice storm.
Tom a classic kings river image with some really nice light in the background. Nice Job. It seams like this area would usually be more green by late March. Hopefully we'll get more rain this spring. I was wondering if you were headed to AZ for the memphis game this week?

I was there for the first time a few weeks ago and thought it was a sweet little spot. It looks like there is more water than when I was there. I like this picture more than what I shot there. Thanks for the update on King's River!
The warm light upstream really makes this shot Tom, as well as the good flow to the river. And thanks for the ice report - nice to know the damage was minimal here.
Very nice shot, Tom. Nice balance between the low-light foreground and highlights in the background. Gives a great sense of depth to the shot.
BTW--kudos on your website. Very well presented and organized and, of course, your images are stellar.
Have a great day!

Great shot Tom. The camera just above the level of the upper water pool along with the sunlit area above the bend of the river give great depth to this image.
Did the sunlit area ever reflect off the upper pool?
Again-super image.

Thanks for all the comments. Ed and Gale, some spring greenery would be welcome. I suspect it is beginning to appear now. Next weekend should be prime. Rod, I left the area about 9am and it appeared the sun was about to peek over the ridge and light the entire area.
