Daniels Park Sunset
The clouds looked interesting this afternoon, so I went to Daniels Park. The light was changing and interesting too. I waited until sundown and just before, it broke through a layer with some rays.
I found the burn area to hold a lot of interest for me with the golden leaves of the oaks still holding on in many places.

Let me know what you think about this one.

Comments and critiques always welcome.

This is awesome Morris. Looks like a bomb went off, or is going off. Great light!

Very cool! My first thought was was "post apocalyptic world". This is quite an intriguing area. Where is Daniels Park?

This is amazing Morris, it does look like an atomic bomb was detonated in the area!. Great light and very nicely handled exposure!.

Awesome is not an overstatement!
Fine composition and lighting. I'd like to know where this area is, as well.

Thanks for the comments everyone. Daniels Park is just south of Highlands Ranch here in the Denver Metro Area. It's between I-25 and Highway 85. It's a little convoluted to get there through the neighbourhoods from any direction, so I suggest a google map if you want to go there. Denver has some of their buffalo herd there through the winter, but they have a lot of area to roam so they are rarely where they can be photographed easily. When they are close to the fences, you can get closer shots through the fence than you could safely in Yellowstone or any park where they have them. Farther south there is also a herd of elk that roams through the Happy Canyon area. I guess what I'm saying is there are a lot of possiblities in this little park that's not far from my house.

I love the wavy terrain through the mid-ground and the detail throughout is fantastic :toast:

Gorgeous light and you handled the contrast range superbly! The burn remnants add to the mystique and uniqueness. Very intriguing image!

Morris, I have been to Daniels Park once and thought the trees would make an interesting subject, but WOW, I didn't realize how awesome this would look with this light an color. I like the drama of this and the feeling of total devastation.

Love that glow in the valley. Definitely agree about the post-apocalyptic feel to this.

Right in my former backyard. The post burn areas really lend themselves to an attractive starkness as you show so well here Morris. FYI, it photographs well with foggy conditions also.

Thanks for the comments, and Pamela, I like your idea of with fog, thanks for putting that in my head. I also wonder how it will look with a lot of snow on it, like we are getting now?
