I am proud to announce that starting this weekend (3-28-09) A selection of my prints will be on display at the Wave Gallery in Yachats, OR. It is a photography only gallery with just a few artists on display at any given time. Currently showing in the gallery is the owner and photographer Bob Keller, as well as tide pool macro specialist, Donna McCoy. The Gallery itself is 1 mile North of Yachats, and on the East side of Hwy 101. There are also two other galleries next door with a broader spectrum of artwork, but very, very high quality stuff.

If anyone will be in the central coast area please stop in and pay Bob a visit. Tell him I sent you, and he'll probably talk your ear off. He's a pretty cool guy to shoot the sh$t with, and talk shop. Donna is also a fantastic photographer, with some of the most creative and original macro shots I've seen in person. Obviously, I don't expect any of you NPN'ers to buy my photos, but I'd love some feedback on my prints. I asked here a while back if anyone knew where in Oregon to go and see some high quality landscape prints, and got no responses. I'm just curious how I stack up to you all, or what you may have seen elsewhere.

I don't know how its all going to work out with the economy the way it is, but I am very excited to at least have some of my work out there for the public to see. Hopefully right in time for the tourists to start filtering through...

Go check it out! Make a weekend out of it. There are plenty of photo ops in the area around Yachats. A few obvious attractions are - Cape Perpetua, Devils Churn, and some pretty wild basalt shoreline with caves, cracks, and blow holes. Like I said, if you are going to be in the area, stop in and let me know what you think. Thanks.

Congrats on the show! How long will you be showing there, we may be heading camping down the coast in a couple weeks and I'd dig stopping in if we made it Yachats.

Thanks, Brett. Basically, the way Bob runs his gallery, my stay will be based on performance. If I'm selling prints, it's money in his pocket - as well as mine! I first contacted Bob about a year ago and stop in now and then if I'm in the area. I've seen only a handful of photogs sift through there since then, so it's probably more likely to be a matter months, not weeks that I'll be there. Donna McCoy has been on display the entire time that I have known of the gallery. Hopefully I can be a long termer like her. We'll see. I hope you can make it down. Things should be getting pretty green here on the coast in a few weeks.

I'll be done there mid June - so if they are still there I will certainly check them out!

I'll stop in and let you know what I think Aaron. Good to see you doing something like this. I'm in Yachats frequently, at least every month.

Congratulations! That looks like a really nice gallery. I wish they had something like that up here (in Seattle, the only photographs welcome at most galleries are "ironic" ones that seem to have the goal of taking an utterly unattractive image of a thoroughly insipid subject -- say, a mostly-desaturated image of a gray-and-industrial-green office cubicle with a little American flag stuck up between the dividers -- printed to about 6' square and on sale for several thousand dollars  ).

Amazing portfolio, by the way!

Thanks, Marc and Ned. I'm eager to get some first hand reviews.

James- You won't find any of that crap here. No selectively colored political statements or outrageous pricetags. The whole gallery has a coastal life/scenery theme, that fits my photography style perfectly.

Ned- When you come down, remind me. If you happen to be in the Yachats area, I could point you to a pretty cool little Coastal stream that has your name all over it. It's just down the road.

Thanks again.

Major congrats, Aaron. I haven't been to that part of the Oregon coast yet. I hope to see it soon, so if I do, I'll stop by. I agree, you have some very nice moments captured in your portfolio.

Hope you get some sales. It's nice to be recognized anyway. For those of us who probably won't make it down there, care to post the links of a few pictures that are on display?

Thanks the latest comments guys. Jack, I'm taking the day off on Friday to deliver and set up my stuff, so everything should be hung and ready if you do stop in over the weekend.

Also, I just created a new gallery on my site that has most of the prints that will be there in one size or another. You can check them out here. Thanks for the idea Jay.

Sweet selection-- those are some great photos. It's nice to see the ghost cloud pic made the cut. If I know of anyone who's planning on making it to the Yachats area, I'll recommend it to them.
