Don...cropped version is majestic but my heart goes for the first one... I think first one can be cropped just on the bottom a bit. Great job...what a grand scene!! regards, Rajeev.

My first thought when seeing the 1st one was that it should be cropped...so I like the 2nd one. Nice shot!

I thought you were advertising a new bottled water or something. Man, this shot is great. My first thought also was a crop, but just off the bottom to get rid of the overwhelming amount of blackness. But if you want to keep the aspect ration intact, your crop works well. This is an absolutely stunning shot any way you present it.

Man, those mountains are amazing! The mist makes it look all the more awesome. The second one is the one, I'd say.

Todd's comments +1.
I like how the more open comp in #1 magnifies the drama. But #2 sure cleans up the comp. The blacked out forest works very well with the avian silhouettes.
I'm loving these! Though the cropped version is compositionally better in just about every way I can put into words, the original has something that it lacks. Drama, as Jesse said, sweep and a sense of vastness. If you're willing to change the aspect ration, I think just a strip off the bottom would be my choice of crop.

Awesome! I love the birds flying around the mountain. Adds a lot of life to the image.

I've posted a similar one in ESS, not sure which one I like better.
Love the title too - intriguing.
Terrific work!
