Congress finally passed 202,000 acres of new Wilderness protections in Oregon.

Oregon has five new Wilderness areas including Mount Hood, Copper Salmon, Soda Mountain, Spring Basin and Badlands.

After years of hard work efforts have finally paid off with the protection of Mount Hood, the Columbia Gorge, Copper Salmon, Soda Mountain, Spring Basin and the Badlands.
Here's a brief summary of the new protections for Oregon's natural areas.

It's been 25 years since the last major Wilderness bill in Oregon.

Wilderness protection for 202,000 acres (315 sq miles)

Protection for 90 miles Wild & Scenic rivers

The new protections will save approximately 7 million trees.

There are 240 miles of trails now protected in the newly designated areas (includes National Recreation Areas)

I am weeping with joy!! I moved here from Iowa 8 years ago. The Iowa landmass has the distinction of being more than 98% altered by man!

The Pacific Northwest is such an awesome place to live! :toast: :jump:
