Been stuck around the house due to weather and homework, so I thought I'd post a photo that caught my interest. It's not perfect, but it has its charm. This one was taken earlier this fall in Carpenter Park in Springfield, Illinois. Enjoy!
Hey hope the weather improves and the homework is easy so you can get out and shoot. The light on the grass is nice the best part of shot wold have probably been better with more leaves and or color in trees.

Love the layered colors of the grass in this, Nathaniel!

Nathaniel, is this an image you want to be critiqued, or simply to share with the forum? I ask because you didn't include a specific reference asking for critique in your original post. I have a comment I'm thinking about offering regarding your photo, but I'm not going to offer anything because it seems you only want people to compliment you on the image. Is this a correct assumption on my part?
Thanks for the comments and suggestions. It'll be tricky finding the small window when both the grass and the trees have great color, but it'll be something to work on for next year!
Brian,
If you'll read the first comment I posted on that thread (before I read the guidelines), I assumed that people could and should write what they please about posted photos. This image was posted with that assumption.
Short answer: I would love to hear any advice and comments you have.

The grass is fantastic! The trees and uninspiring sky take away from this image. What about cropping into the interesting grasses or even a panorama of it? As I scrolled down on my monitor I thought that might be a cool idea... Just a thought. For me this time of year is the most challenging. I'm sick of blah (leafless trees/dead stuff). Give us some spring color. Just my spring fever spiking, I guess. I shouldn't have gone to Mexico a few weeks back, it messed me up. It was like July down there.

I asked because I really wanted to know if you wanted more than compliments, and to highlight the confusion that has been swirling around the forum regarding commentary as addressed in Kerry's thread. Mike beat me to the comment I was thinking about. I too, think the sky takes away from the pastels in the grasses and would suggest a crop off the top to enhance the gorgeous colors in the grasses. Very nice find in the between season, and thanks for the clarification,
Nathaniel, I definitely see what Mike and Brian are saying and I agree to a point...but I really like the complementary colors represented by the blue sky and the yellow(ish) grasses. The trees aren't doing much for me, however. Still, it's hard to see you get the one without the other. No question, for me, the single most appealing part of the image is the grass itself, so I guess I find myself agreeing with Mike and Brian almost completely in the end. Given what I see here, isolating the grass is probably the best option.
Thanks for the feedback all, this was what I was looking for as far as what worked and what didn't. To me the few colorful remaining leaves draw enough interest to leave the trees in, but it looks like that's just a personal preference
Brian,
My apologies if my reply seemed curt. If I read too many disagreements in one day I tend to see sarcastic comments where they don't exist Your feedback is much appreciated.
