Bluebird
This is my first Bluebird shot of the season. They returned about two weeks earlier than last year. When they first return they like to feed on the Sumac.

Comments are appreciated.

Nailed it!

Hey, how long of a lens did you need to get this, cropped ot not? I'm used to shooting landscapes @ 17mm, I'm not too versed on birding.

I used a Tamron 200-500mm lens to shoot this. Full info is 1/100s f/10.0 at 500.mm ( 750mm on a D80) iso400. I cropped a little on the sides.

Good eye and feathers. Nice first shot of the season, good hunting.

Lucky you, Philip! Bluebirds don't normally show up here until the last of April, although I have seen a few now and again who stayed through the winter. Nice light on this little guy.

You know, there are bluebird houses all over the place in the forest preserves in NE Illinois and at the Morton Arboretum in Lisle, IL...and, I swear, I never see one there. Never. I do occasionally, see them in central Indiana.

Nicely done, Phil.

I have my houses ready but still no sign of them here in my backyard. Hope they come back again this year.
Very nice shot Phil. Love the colors and side light. Hope your sighting mean spring is here soon. We just had a dusting of snow again last night.

Nice shot, Phil. I like the perch and the story it tells about early spring. It seems a tad soft, though, and I think a boost in contrast and a bit of saturation would help make it pop.

I agree that it's a tad soft, but other than that everything is spot-on. I especially like the lighting and colors- great shot.
