This toad has the horizontal eye of a EA Toad but the parotoid gland behind the eye is not kidney shaped as usual.
But I am guessing it is a EA Toad. One of the most common in Missouri.

Hey, my wife, the science teacher just told me that I had mis identified the circular feature as the parotoid gland. It is not but that slightly raised area above the circular feature is the parotoid gland and it is kidney shaped. So. I'm still betting on Eastern American Toad.

I think Gale is right, a not too happy looking fellow. I like the environmental shot and good detail you've captured Rod. Thanks for sharing!

Rod, what did you do to make that guy mad? Nice shot.

Hey, you guys would be mad also if you had just burrowed out of the ground after 5+ months and had the paparazzi stick a lens in your face!

Yes, Eastern American toad looks like a good i.d.

Best,
Don

Pretty cool shot, Rod - bet he's thinking he got up a little early after today's weather!
