First off thanks to a certain Mr Danny Green for yet another wonderful day . 5 barmy reprobates and a Golden Eagle , surely a recipe for disaster but held together oh so well by the maestro .The image shot in none too good light ( too harsh) but warmly welcomed from the earlier rain. There is a term for this posture but it escapes me and I will no doubt be chastised for forgetting it.It got real gory past this point .

Really clean shot, love the pose and how the feathers are all fluffed up. I don't like the bracken in the bottom right corner (but that is a minor niggle for me). Cool
Lovely pose, I believe it's called mantling. What a beautiful animal. With good light, that would make a super image.

It is indeed called mantling, and good to see you had a good day Mark - set a benchmark now has he?!!
Bet he told you about the mantling we saw the previous week too!!
Nice shot in the conditions.

Don't usually get much from 'captive' images but that is some impressive behaviour and I bet would be a shot in a million up in the Highlands so nicely timed!
