That is all around a very nice image. Very sharp little fellow... How are you getting 700mm @ 5.6?

Aaron - Canon 500mm f/4 + 1.4tc. Just got it today. Still learning how to manhandle it using monopod.

One of your best I think Daniel. Tack sharp with a good background and a little attitude to boot. There seems to be a halo around the lower portions of the cardinal but I find this quite appealling. Well done!
I agree one of your best Daniel! Very sharp and I really like the clean background. It looks like she is thinking "what is that big white gun pointed at me". Congrats on the 500mm -thats going take your stuff to a new level.

Daniel, great catch and the sharpness is great.

Great detail, sharpness, exposure, light, background. Wonderful portrait. A possible minor point would be the very slight cropping of the right foot.

Halo effect is from cloning out a few twigs. Cropped foot was a new problem for me: Too close! I was using the 1.4TC on the 500mm and now have to be more careful not to cut out parts of the bird. New tools = new techniques.
Really oustanding, Daniel. While the foot may be a minor issue, it's a still a great shot overall. I'm sure with a little more practice with that cannon you just acquired, you'll become more aware. I've never had much of a problem with being too far away
