Orange Riot
One of my favorites from the Holland Tulip Festival, 2 years ago.
Pentax K10D, Sigma 28-135 @1oomm, f32, 1/60, iso 200

C&C always welcome and appreciated.

Very pretty, Toni. Nice job handling the high key nature of the sunlit tulips; I almost feel the need to slip on a pair of sunglasses. This must be a dazzling scene!

I really ought to try to make it to the festival one of these years. I'm guessing that it's normally held in early May...is that correct?

Like Kerry said, very nice job handling the exposure. I love the vivid colors and subtle variations in the arrangement of the flowers. This must be a heck of a festival!!

Great color. Can't wait for a few to bloom here.

This is stunning Toni. This would make a challenging jigsaw puzzle.

I agree with Deb, this is a stunning image. I also like how you handled the DOF, but would be concerned about diffraction and a loss of sharpness at f32. It looks sharp to me, though, at this size. The composition is exceptional, with just enough green stems sprinkled in here and there throughout the frame. This is one situation where I would love to have a tilt/shift lens in my bag. I bet this would look gorgeous printed large with a nice frame holding it all together. Very well seen and captured! :toast:

Scary that I can typically date a photograph by the digital body used to take it.

Lovely image, and very inviting given all the browns and grays I've been seeing lately. It does indeed almost glow. I agree with Brian regarding the diffraction issues, though it shouldn't matter a whole lot if printed small. Also, this comment is coming from a resolution stickler who highly values craftsmanship.

Thanks!

Joel...I'm on year 3 with this camera, so this image could very well have been taken last year.

I'm not worried about diffraction on this image...it looks sharp throughout, even when upsized.

Toni - I'll do you the favor of never bringing up the diffraction issue again, since it's obviously not a concern. If it's good enough for you, great. That said, I have yet to work with any crop factor camera/lens combo where I'd ever consider using f22. "Acceptable sharpness" is obviously relative.

I certainly wasn't trying to pick on you - just giving my divergent perspective.

Thanks, Cindy, and yes..the day after the image was uploaded to Acclaim, there it was on the cover.

Joel..understood!

Where are my shades?! I can almost feel the warmth of spring in this image. Beautiful, Toni.
