Ed, I don't know about your area up north, but I have seen Osprey frequently over Lake Conway. In fact, I think there is a pair building a nest at the lake right now but haven't been able to get someone to take me out on their boat to see for sure. It's either Osprey or an eagle pair but, bottom line, Osprey are not common but not unheard of in this area.

Oh, yeah -- nice shot considering the focal length and being hand held. Even with VR that was a good accomplishment.

Ed, I've never seen one so couldn't help with the id but it seems that's confirmed anyway. Nice spot and a satisfactory result for such a long focal length shot.

WhatBird indicates your ID is correct Ed. It also indicates that AR/MO are in their migratory area.
Just guessing, 600mm with 1.7TC on a 1.5 crop camera?
Pretty nice work, I'd say. I don't think I've ever seen one of these around Beaver, though I've heard of them being spotted before. What part of the lake was this - the lower end?

Quality is not good, I was shooting handheld through tree branches with an effective focal length of 1500mm. VR is a wonderful thing.

Nice catch, by the way.
He was where prairie creek empties into the lake. Probably Rogers city limit since he was on the west side of the creek.
A very nice capture, on my to do list here at Milford anytime now send them on up please.
