I like the lines and the similar colors on top and bottom but I do feel it is too soft....I would like to see the detail that exists in the grasses and buds. If your intention was to soften the image then I would soften/blur it even more and create an abstract image.
I like this a lot Cliff. I'm enjoying the muted but still colorful pallette, the sense of calm about it, the design all the branches make and the layers of color top and bottom connected by the vertical lines of the trunks. How "soft" it is doesn't bother me, as it contributes to the feeling of quiet. To me, you achieved some order in this chaos, which is the trick with our woods any time of year. And the more I look at it, the more it grows on me.
Now, having said all that, I think you and I are among a relatively small minority who like these kinds of shots! I vote we keep working on 'em, too!

I like this a whole lot more than about 80% of what's been posted here and on ESS lately, Cliff. This one at least takes a brain to see rather than the over the top common beautiful stuff we see posted all the time.

I like the repetitive patterns and color...

I like the range of colors in this shot, the softness doesn't bother me in this type of shot at all. I think its a really nice image.
I think there is a great idea behind this photo. If someone asked me to nitpick on something, I would suggest slightly increasing contrast on the trees.
