I have a fascination with glaciers & ice caps. Photographer James Balog (http://www.jamesbalog.com) has been documenting glaciers for several years now, all over the northern hemisphere. A new NOVA-National Geographic special is airing on PBS & covers the rapidly advancing and melting glaciers & degrading ice caps around our planet. Really beautiful cinematography & photography, fascinating science (god, if my high school & college professors ready that last part... ), and great narration.
Highly recommend you watch this. Entertaining, inspiring, and more than a little scary.
I caught this on PBS a few days ago (last weekend???). It was a fascinating show.

I also noticed that you can watch this full program on the PBS/NOVA website for free. It is broken into 6 chapters of about 8 minutes each. I'll post a link at the bottom of this entry.
BUT FIRST! I've got to get me one of those waterproof camera bags that James Balog is using at the end of the show, one of the last set up clips from his trip to Iceland. It looks like a big Zip Lock Freezer Bag with a camera mount inside. Any ideas what this equipment is???
Anyway - here's the link for the on-line viewing:

Great program, I loved it. Also pretty alarming what they're finding about the rate of glacial melt per year.
