Dunes with Aleks
See below for more details of how we took the longest most tortuous route to Star Dune, which involved climbing the steepest Dune faces we could find, and returning through brush and crusty snow

Anyhow, had a great hike, since Aleks got such great shots of me, here's one of her that i think turned out pretty well, from the summit of Star Dune. Best shots at ESS today and all week, hope you can check them out.

Good golden light on the dunes before sunset.

This shot was tricky--took a dozen exposures, lens hood and my hands to keep the flare out of this one!

The 'standard' view of the Crestones, fortunately a few clouds remained for sunset. Best shot at ESS.

Nice shots! Those are some crazy formations in the dune in #2... I've never seen anything like that.

Why not post your best shots here too??

Jack, good question, answer is i have so many shots id like to post that i cant post em all, so i post the ones im 'unsure of' here to gauge reaction and get mild critique (which shots survive the 'cut'), i use ESS for shots i feel are a bit stronger because the critique there is a bit stronger.

Definitely 2,3, and 5. Just more goodness at the dunes from you and Aleks, Stan. I really like your shot of Aleks, too. She' completely bullseyed, but all the lines lead to her. She'll want a copy of that, I'm sure. When do I get to go shoot with Aleks? :frown: Since she's not a roadside shooter (by necessity not choice) I probably won't get an invite.

The last one and "eyes" shots are awesome, Stan! And I can't complain about the one of me either and will definitely need a copy for my website ;)

Morris, I am always up for any type of shooting, roadside or 10-mile long aimless survey of the dunes

Very nice stuff to both of ya! I did not get down there at all... :frown: last week due to some urgent stuff at work. Oh well what are vacations for eh? Would have been full of NPNers anyway

Great stuff, Stan. I'm really liking #2.

2 and 3 are my favs, especially 3 though because of the uniqueness aspect. I think I would have placed that eye in the lower left, or upper right, rather than centered.
