Hi All

Is there anyone out there who can give some sound advice about how to set up a printer so I can print what I see on the screen of my PC.
The printer is an Epson pro4800 with driver version 6.51.
PC running Vista.
I am using Lightroom 2 (Prophoto RGB 16 bit).
The monitor has been calibrated with ColorVision Spyder2Pro.
I have wasted so much ink and paper its almost a crime.
Been in contact with Epson technical and after a long time on the phone with them as well as printing out lots of images with their suggestions, they tell me its a question of trial and error; somehow I think this is a cop out?! (could be wrong).
Went on-line to look for answers and was supprised to see I am not the only one with these problems, especislly using lightroom 2.3/CS4 Photoshop with a Epson pro4800............ any pointers would be great!

Thanks in advance.

Read the Eric Chan 3800 FAQs - inkset and operation of the 4800 and 3800 are pretty well identical.

Usual issue is double profiling; ensure the printer profile is fully disabled and allowing your software profile to control print output.

Also are you using softproof view in PS before printing or just the standard colour space view?

What papers are you using - as this can affect print quailty of Dmax output/contrast

Finally if using "Perceptual" print output ensure black point compensation is off - it makes a big difference.

FWIW once set up I now have the closest prints from my 3800 against screen view that I could ever get from a 5 year old Canon printer
