Wow ! Panic job today. I went out briefly to take a shot of a friends machine he had built. Standard lens and just the camera.
Got back in the car. Put the camera on the passenger seat. Got home, got out of the car and somehow the camera strap was caught on my left arm around the elbow area. As I got out, the camera shot past my left ear , went through the open door and hit the tarmac dive, bounced once and landed 4 feet away.
( This I thought is one of the times you tell the wife how georgeous she is and oh by the way ----)
Anyway, picked it up, and the back display sceen protector was smashed but hanging on.. There,s a slight scuff mark on the lens hood where it landed at time two !
Everything works fine !!
As I say- not an advert at all ,but I was quite relieved even thogh I have a spare D200off PhilT I,ve not used yet.

So the moral is.

Don't use a strap !! If you do -take it off your person when not in use.
Cheers

Hi John,

I have always been impressed with the build quality of the D200, although the screen protector does break easily (I am now on my fourth), and the eyepiece cup can fall off. Having said that, the body itself does seem to just keep on going. You are right about straps, more nuisance than they are worth most of the time.
