Very nice simon, i've been after an image of one of these and the red-legged for ages-cannot get near them, so i know how well you've done in getting this image, well done simon

Simon, you have done well to get an image of a species that many of us would like, but fail to get. Either you were incredibly lucky, or your fieldwork is fantastic. I do think the final image could do with having the levels lifted slightly, and perhaps a pass or two of unsharp mask as well, but there is no disguising the fact that you did well in what were obviously difficult lighting conditions.
David, I can usually find one or two of these chaps or their Red-Legged cousins through my knowledge of the local area however, they are small birds in very large fields so that's where the luck and patience comes in
No mean task, find, position, and capture a good species. Well taken.

Tremendous shot of a species I've not seen for ages. Low light but works well with the dew on the grass adding interest.

Excellent! I've never been able to get anywhere near these birds, well done! I would agree that a very slight lift to levels and perhaps contrast would benefit, but only a touch so as not to spoil the dewy morning look. Also a little more sharpening.
