Very nice! Agreed it may be a tad central but easily fixed with a small crop

At first I wasn't keen on the burnt heather around it but on second look I like it and it tells the story well.

Quite an enigmatic image Tim - especially with a bit of anthropomorphism added.
I'd just like a bit more space on the left - don't suppose you shot it landscape as well did you?

Excellent, the burnt heather gives a really graphic feel, and I like the way the light appears to be on just the head and neck of the bird, really does suit the title!! I agree that a little off the right would benefit, but I don't mind about the missing feet, as there is plenty of room for virtual ones!!

love it, fabulour visual explanation of heather moor management - and the end product.
Thanks for your comments, yep I do have more room on the right so can play with the crop.
I would like to get it in more subdued light, so can control the grouse comb better.

I've been waiting for an opportunity like this but the Grouse here won't brave the burnt bits at present.

Cheers now

You can see it as a rising phenix from the ashes. So he/she has to rise a little more
Really like this and the setting suits the title.
Great title and showing a differnt aspect of this birds life.
