Boulder Flatirons this morning
With the fresh dusting of snow last night, I thought I might see some fellow photogs at Chautauqua this morning. But I think I had the place to myself. It was a beautiful morning with nice clouds (mostly hiding behind the hills as viewed from the Chautauqua). And I got some test images from the new 5D2 to play with.

I'm still nailing down my digital workflow with the new 5D2, so critique is most welcome. This has very little post-processing - just a bit each of clarity, vibrance and saturation. I did play with the sharpening settings a bit (still not quite satisfied).

Thanks for looking. :wavey:

That's some sweet light you captured, Scott! I would like to see the rest of the foreground tree, but that's not a biggy. The image as a whole is well exposed, with good color, but could use a bit more sharpening.

Nice light and I like how the shape of the tree mimics the 1st Flatiron. The warmth in the golden prairie grasses is also sweet. Like Don, I'd like to see all of the tree - did you happen to shoot horizontal versions?

+2 with Don. And I was out shooting this morning as well, but happen to choose a different location. I figured someone would be out there at Chautaugua park.

If you want snow, Sunday morning will be another good opportunity if the forecast holds.

Thanks for the feedback!

So here's the horizontal. I liked it too, but kinda liked the close cropped vertical better.

I actually prefer your horizontal version, I like the extra room around the tree and the flatirons. Sweet light and nice use of the tree!.

I like the foreground in the vert, and seeing more tree in the horiz. Processing, colors look great to me. I hope you're enjoy the new toy.

Both are very nice!
Thanks Steven for the heads up on the snow.
