Nikon D3 in DX Mode

Hello,
I have to begin by admitting I don't understand the workings of a camera very well. At how many megapixels does the D3 shoot when in DX mode? Thank you.

5.1 Megapixels I believe.

10.5Mpix is the D3X not the D3.

The menu for selecting DX mode states the image size is 24X16 (2400X1600), but when DX mode is selected the actual image size is 2784X1848 which yields 5.14 mega Pixels which rounds to 5.1.
