Excellent capture of this BGH, Michael!

The properties of the image show it to be 900 pixels high, which is over the guidelines, although you are well below the file size limit of 200k. Next time, please keep the image at or below 720 pixels at the longest side....Thanks!

Looks like you found a hot spot, Mike! Looking forward to more posts.

First off Toni Sorry! Second It's on Old State Road opposite the entrance to the Spillway Lodge restaurant. Old State Road runs off of Route 730 and is between route 350 and the South Shore Marina. There is a narrow gravel strip to park across the road from Lodge entrance and you can see the nests in the trees, looking slightly right as you face the trees.

Thanks for looking.

Nice feather details and pose of the heron, Mike. Have any baby herons arrived yet? Cowen Lake is southwest of Dayton, Ohio. For more info:

Nice shot. Great detail. How close were you and what lens did you use for this one? I the heron are back in our area and setting up nests. Hope to get out next week for some shooting.

Great shot, the detail is fantastic. Common or not, that is a very wild looking bird and it's always a treat seeing them

Thanks Nathaniel, I guess I've never really thought about the whole common thing. I guess I see natures beauty and like capturing it :)

Nice, crisp shot. I like the inclusion of the nest at the base, which gives this a real sense of environment (and implied behavior).
