Fire-damaged pines in Yellowstone (creative again I'm afraid)

The extensive and dramatic 1988 fire in Yellowstone National Park damaged 800,000 acres, around 36% of the park. These lodgepole pines were both charred by the fire and then weather bleached over the intervening years by the exteme climate. I used a slow shutter speed and moved the camera down during the exposure to give this blurred and abstract effect of the dark and light contrast of bleach and burn.

Very abstract and modern. It has that painted look to it. I'm not sure I'd be able to guess what it was without your explanation.

The thick tree(s) in the middle are a little central for me. Moved to either side would suit my taste.

Overall a nice effect.

Convert to black and white and up the contrast to get a barcode

Generic type of shot you'd find for sale as a print or canvas at Tesco's or Homebase. All very office art and a very different kind of shot from what we've come to expect from your art side.

I'm not keen on it at all. I'm but one opinion though and this sort of stuff goes off the shelves like there's no tomorrow

Nice shot! It has a really painterly feel, and lovely colours.

Works a treat for me John - a proper wall-hanger if ever I saw one :wavey:

Interior designers love this stuff...

I'm with Kenny on this one I'm afraid. I've seen this type of shot so many times - although I suppose it could be argued the same for the majority of photo's!

Hi John

It has been done before but then so has everything else! Yours is one of the best examples of this type of shot, has that lovely soft pastel feel about it(I'm not going to say it looks like a painting!!!)

Great!

very nice image, the colours and composition are great, speaking from a purely aesthetic point of view it's a lovely image, perhaps a little inoffensive to be art though
