I am investing in a new camera and I'm looking to get the P90. I'm looking for something $400 or less & what I want is a non- DSLR that has good mp & optical to use for birds, action, etc shoots, as well as for lower- budget event photography events. So I need a built- in flash and would prefer at least 640x480@30 video and some burst mode.. any other suggestions to check out?

thanks,
Brendan

Brendan, I'm interested in checking it out too as soon as it's released. I've heard it's a bit noisy but I'm intrigued with having it as a travel camera rather than carrying all of my gear with me.

Good luck.

Check out the Panasonic Lumix--whatever the latest camera is. I'm no expert, but a Panasonic Lumix P&S was the camera that was my "gateway drug" back into photography. That camera packed some great above-competitor-standard features into a low price point.
Happy shooting!

I recently picked up a Panasonic FZ-28. In fact, I bought it a day before the P90 was announced, which sorta irked me since I'm a D200 user. Although I've owned it for a while I've only just started shooting with it, but you can view the results so far here: http://www.flickr.com/photos/jwallphoto/sets/72157616007221809/

I went with the Coolpix P80 instead, making it even less risky to have with me a lot but still 10.1mp/18x zoom.. auto mode isn't the greatest but overall it has been nice for several types of photography.
