Loon
Twice a year, the loons migrate through Madison. I've seen them several times, but haven't been in the right place at the right time WITH my camera. But, today was different... ;)

Pentax K20D, ~1200 mm focal length, ASA200, 1/60", tripod

Enjoy,

Tim!

And, second shot...

Glad you caught them. Both shots are great.

Nice catch times two, Tim. It must be nice having the reach of 1200mm! Excellent details in both. The first one holds the whites better - nice job with a tough exposure. The second one looks a bit hot.

Some nice shots. I really like the second one.

I like the second, but only slightly more. Both shots have great clarity and detail.

One of my favorite birds! Nice job Tim. I like the first of the two, not sure why just do

Great shots! Thanks for posting them, Tim. Like them both, great detail, love the green showing through the black on the loon's head.

Both shots are really nice, Tim. Each has its own charm. The best part of the first, for me, is the water drop hanging on the edge of the beak. The best part about the second is the fairly unusual pose you caught.
