Echo Lake
Another shot from the day with my grandson last week. We worked Echo Lake for awhile, and the coolest thing was going on. The ice had some clear areas and the wind was blowing pretty good, so it was moving the ice sheets. Well, there were sounds like humpback whales coming from the ice when it moved. We really got a kick out of that.
Good times, good times.

Nice shot, Morris! I heard the same sounds at Twin Lakes the other week--very spooky!

Yes, Stan, it most definitely is. We didn't know at first where the sound was coming from.

Beauty of a shot there, Morris! I'll bet that sound would have been spookier still if you were walking on the ice at the time!

This is gorgeous!
The pano crop is perfect for this wonderful assemblage of elements.
And to top it off, you got to share it with your grandson. It really doesn't get much better, does it?

Don, I think if I had heard that if I had been on the ice, I would have needed a change of clothes. Too much open water to be that stupid, though.
John, thanks, and you got it right, it just doesn't get any better.
