This is an unprocessed shot at 20mm.
5D veterans, please enlighten me.
This is one of my first shots with a 5D2 and the 17-40. At 20mm and wider, the cokin P filter holder is visible. At 22mm, it's not visible.
I never had this issue with the 40D and its crop factor with the 17-85 lens.
I don't like handholding filters at all. That's not an option for me.
So is this simply something to live with and work around - you can't go wider than 22mm with the 5D when using the P holder?
btw, this is with a GND, not a polarizer. I haven't started testing the polarizer for vignetting yet.
Thanks.

Lance,
If you don't want to handhold, try cutting the last slot off your filter holder. I carried a modified filter holder for ultra wide angles with my old 35mm film camera system and it worked like a charm.

If that doesn't work there's always the Z-size holder and filters.

Have you tried using the wide angle version of the cokin P? Some of them can be turned around by putting the ring in the side you normally use to hold the filter.
If that doesn't work you can spend a few bucks and upgrade to one of the pro series.
Like Lori said, I modified one with the outer two slots chopped off just for wide angles. But your shot is also showing the "ring" in the corners. Make sure you are stopped down when you use a filter and it should help too (f8 or higher is usually good). Also, take off any plain glass filters you might have on the lens (or get a slim version).

BTW: your horizon is crooked -- just kidding.
