Who Needs The Gorge?
While far from the Columbia River Gorge, the Napa valley offers up some alternatives. This is along a small creek in Napa Regional Park, just south of Calistoga, along hwy29. I was hiking here in mid-day light, and not expecting to get much. I came across this little turn in the creek that was in shadow. I'm not trying to compare this to the gorge, it is not. But this little turn in the creek that was in shadow allowed me to capture this scene. Thanks for having a look.

The blur movement is like DOF: IT makes the focussed rocks look surrrealistically sharp.
It's a nice photo though honestly I'm not really amazed by the composition. I feel I'm missing some space on top and right, though even with it I dunno if it'd change anything. I think subject just doesn't turn me on too much.

The tech execution is very good tho. 1sec is perfect timing for the shot. Color balance is good and natural to me even though the water is bluish: Feels like natural colors.

Was the polarizer just used as a ND filter or did it actually get some use for color or reflection control?

Chris,

This is very nice. I really like the crisp details and the glistening of the wet rocks. The shutter speed is perfect, IMO - I think 1 sec is a great choice for many moving water scenes.
I'm a little unsure about the little bit of blue in the water. I think it works and it doesn't bother me, but optionally you may try and reduce it to see if you like the difference.
