I've spent some time photographing Honey Bees lately, a tricky subject as they don't stay still for long and don't like me getting within 4 inches of them as is required using my set-up. This is probably my best result so far, although no doubt a bit large in the frame for some (but that's the downside of the MP-E 65 macro lens with its minimum magnification of 1:1).
Canon 450D, MP-E 65mm macro lens, f13, 1/160, diffused Speedlight on side bracket, handheld, taken at 1:1 magnification, full frame.
Intend to have a go at this later in the year my self. But seeing this makes me feel like trying it now. But I must finish the projects I have started.
It looks like it's getting stuck right in! the out of focus petal on the top right is a bit annoying but without it the image would be very unbalanced. As you say, I imagine you'd be pleased just to get all the right bits in focus with these fickle creatures. Nice choixce of subject matter for this time of year too, espcially when they're facing troubles.

Great stuff and keep them coming.
