Well worth a long session in the hide, one of the birds on the edge of the Lek wandered right towards me and underneath the lens, as did several hares. Its a fantastic experience seeing (and hearing) the birds displaying and great to see them rapidly increasing their numbers in Northern England :toast:

1D3 300mm f/2.8 + 1.4x TC (420mm) ISO:800 1/160 sec @ f/4

Thanks for looking

I love these birds to bits. I'm envious!

You're photo really captures the pose well and getting the legs is something that isn't always guaranteed with these birds. The image does look a little washed out to me but I'm on a different monitor to usual so it might just be that.

Looking forward to another if there are any

Thanks Chris, John. Chris I should have explained in the post that the image was taken in dense freezing fog (the lens got iced up at the end of the session). That probably accounts for the slight lack of contrast on the bird and the wishy washy backdrop. Most of the more distant shots were badly affected by the fog but I'll post up some of my better ones over the course of the next few days. I'm hoping to return the the site this week if the light is looking good.

Nice pose

I think the image could be improved with a slight tweak of the contrast and curves, to get rid of the washed out look and give it a bit more punch.

Great stuff! I agree about the colours. Look forward to seeing the others too.
