Southwest Wildlife - just for Dan Walters... :-)
While we were staying in Tucson, a bunch of javelinas stopped by to visit around 11:30 PM - maybe 8, or so altogether. They smell mildly like skunks. I was allowed to approach within 6-8 feet before they got worried - too busy scrounging for food, I guess. The orange on the extreme right was Sheila's flashlight as she helped my with my AF.

Dan, I'm no wildlife shooter, but if some animal walks in front of my camera, I'll shoot 'em! This one's for you!

No wall hanger, but a fun shot. I don't know if I would want to be within 6' of a javelina.

I've heard these stinkers can be pretty mean. Glad they didn't surround you and demand some bacon and...oh, wait.

Neat situation to be in, like the others, I've heard javalinas can be quite nasty and it's a good idea to keep your distance.

I've heard they could be pretty mean, but these guys were quite timid and easily spooked by noises. I suspect if they were defending their young it might be a different matter.
