A total grab shot, scrambling around the badlands that you can see in my ESS post, no tripod in hand, just out scouting. I shot this pretty close to mid-day just cus I wanted to hear the sound of the shutter or something (is it just me, or do you like hearing that sound too?).. and then I thought it turned out rather successful for a mid-day shot.. so here 'tis.

Cool shot, Floris. I think it could use a crop from the top to eliminate that vacant ULC.

Yea, you're definitely right, I just felt bad cropping it.. I'd already taken off a bunch from the top to make it 4x5, but it definitely works better without that corner. I should have shot a few other comps, with a tripod.. maybe if the flowers are still nice next time I'm there I'll reshoot it

Floris,

This is excellent! Great job of filling the frame. I think this is quite a unique image and display of this desert beauty. I might agree with a crop from the top, but still this is unique enough that I think it works the way it is. I would however consider a slight reduction in brightness, but even still this comes across very well for that <special> mid day light. :-)

That Oco is lit up pretty well. A square crop would look good too. I like the background which also has it's own focal point.
