Mr Creosote
This is one of a huge number of photos I ended up taking of the great white pelicans that Djoudj (Senegal) is famous for. Every morning there'd be a lot of them fishing for catfish near the starting point for tourist trips up the river. Not that I was there every morning of course, having fieldwork to do and all that!

Lordy - Oh my gosh

What a capture - an incredible view that I've never seen before Adam.

Really shows the miracle of Peli jaw design - amazing view imo :wavey:

"Perhaps a wafer thin mint!"

Cripes thats hilarious and horrible at the same time, great image though - really shows off the gluttony of these birds.

Thanks all, they really are quite a sight at close quarters. Mr Creosote's reply to the offer of said mint was going to be my title, but I thought better of it!

Looks like a folding landing net - just bend back the top mandible and there you have it. Incredible bit of living anatomy you've caught there.

Excellent capture showing great behaviour..... perhaps a tad tight at the bottom but that view into the pouch more than makes up for it....
