Hello,
I went out to Chase county on Sunday, it was way too windy for burns, so I shot falls. This is the waterfall just beyond the dam at Chase State Fishing Lake. I didn't like the foreground, so I made it a pano. I'm not sure about the crop, but it gives you an idea of what the falls look like after a rain.
Dena, this is a nice waterfall. Who says there are no waterfalls in Kansas! I like the light in the background. What would you estimate the height of these falls are?

Dena, too bad about the wind and the prairie burns, it was a windy day. Nice to have some waterfalls to fall back on though. I'm surprised how much less water there is than a week ago, but also how much more green there is. I would like to be back in a week or two when the trees really start leafing out.
By the way, you have got some great shots from your trip west. Must have been fun.

Hi guys,
Tom - The background is a little hill with prairie grass on it, I liked the color also. I cropped it so close because the white sky is just above that. I am the worse at measuring distance, I'm going to say 30 feet - but have Ken or Wayne double check me, because I could be way off!
Ken, Thanks for the kind words about the western trip, it was a ton of fun. I'd love to see a shot from last week to see the additional water, got anything you could share?
Nice shot Dena, makes me want to get back down there and shoot these falls again. It is good to see some green starting to show up there in the foreground.

Hi Dena, very nice composition, it is nicely balanced and "flows" well. You've shown that this fall really looks nice with some water flowing through it. Glad to hear you made it back out to Chase County. Too bad the winds were blowing and stymied your prairie burn hopes.
Tom, I've only been there once but I would guestimate this fall as shown at about 15' - 18'. The watershed is comprised of a series of three individual falls as I recall with the overall drop being maybe 30' - 40'. Not bad for flat ole Kansas!
Thanks for sharing Dena! Looking forward to seeing more.
