Big Sur Highway to Nowhere
Big Sur morning fog, with Highway One winding south to nowhere.

Really nice Harley! Love the way the light and dark balance each other.
How do you like that 5D Mk II?I'm just getting acquainted with mine,
only had it for a couple of weeks.

Probably pointing out the obvious here, but seeing this after Rudy's shot just made me smile, and I had to share that

Lovely misty atmosphere here, nicely done.

A great mood shot, Harley! It's certainly aptly titled. I don't think that I've ever
seen the Big Sur done in B&W. Good layering in the background

Michael,

I mostly shoot 4x5, so I don't have a lot of experience with the 5dII. While processing this image, I got a good chance to look at it quite a bit at 100%. It is a very nice file. I am impressed.

I will continue to primarily shoot 4x5 because I really enjoy the process and the whole experience, but the 5DII is a very nice alternative. I really like the LiveView, too. Much like composing on the 4x5 ground glass. I don't seem to get good results looking through a 35mm viewfinder.

Focusing with LiveView is extremely precise. I ran into Marc Muench at Samy's the other day and shot the bull for a while. He has changed his workflow in the field with the 5DII, using LiveView for composing and focus.

This is very nice Harley. I was looking for the headlights of my truck on the road but we must have been just around the bend.

I like it Harley! The ocean mist has really created a great mood. It could be mistaken for a scene that lacks contrast, but it captures the essence of the CA coast.

Minor technical nit - the bright line that I'm assuming is the horizon is slightly tilted ccw. no biggie in this comp though.

Don't get too carried away with the dslr now....

Looks like you can pull off on the wrong side of the road on your way to nowhere. Nice image.

Nice shot, Harley. There's a couple of "classic" BW shots along the coast similar to this done by the f64 group from the Ansel Adams days. :toast:

Like the comp which leads my eye quite nicely. Conversion to black and white looks great and really adds nice nice mood. Really nice work here.
