Took this on a pretty grueling 8+ mile hike last Sunday. This was around mid-day so the light wasn't very good. But I liked the little "room" off the trail, so I'm going to try to come back another time with better light. Then maybe I'll have something worth posting to ES&S.
For what it's worth, Grant Park is a pretty nice park, big actually, east of San Jose. We only saw 1 other person on that 8 mile trail. Pretty surprising considering it was a beautiful 70F spring day.

The background looks pretty thick to try to hack through so I could imagine what the trail was like. Nice looking green room Mat. The spanish moss hanging from the oaks is a nice subtle addition.
It looks like there is some potential here with better lighting. You are to be
commended for making such a long trip. The trees do have some character.
I'm wondering how this might look on a partially foggy day. The yellow flowers
in the grass help to support an otherwise rather ordinary foreground.

It looks like you can take some nice images there in good light. Good luck for a return trip.
This is quite a lovely scene and works well considering the bright daylight. I really like the hanging moss on the oaks and the sprinkling of yellow flowers. Looks like a great place for a hike - and photography!
Nice shot. I live nearby in Los Altos. I have enjoyed many outings to Grant Ranch and have had some limited success in getting shots. I enclosed a link to a similar shot from the same park.

Have fun out there.

Thanks for the tip on Grant Park. From your image, looks like a return trip, with good light would be very productive. Best Regards.
