Road to Up There
Whitney Portal rd this morning. It snowed up there last night and a little in the Valley but not enough to stick. I would of preferred BW for the theme going but the bland rocks didn't help.

Man, you're all over this state.. how many miles do you put on a year?! I like the curves in the road, great lead in.

I like this. I've never been up that road, but this makes me want to. Curious about your miles-per-year as well

Beautiful shot, I think you really captured the essence of Whitney Portal. I love that place...it snowed while I was camping there late last May!

Nice wave in the road. Good stock image. We have the "road to" theme on a roll!

You are putting on some serious miles. I am afraid you might wear out your CF cards.

Good going, Steve! I like serpentine shaped roads. I always wonder just what's
around the next corner. The blue sky with the white cloud hovering over the mountain
peak works well. I am not very skilled at Photoshop (dodge and burn, masks, etc.).
I'm wondering if there's any way that you can darken the snow-capped mountain in the
background a little. Maybe it's exposed just as it should be and my concern is attributable to my monitor. I like the way the rock formations overlap each other.

Steve,

Great road image! I like the dominant cloud and the pretty strip of blue sky. Makes me wonder now, what's at the end of the road and what do you have in store for us? :-)

Rob, Yes that can be toned down but I already junked the web file. I just saw the road them and I wanted to keep it going. I think that mountain is Wotan's Throne?

Lon, here is a snapshot trip up to the top w/ a point and shoot.

On this visit I really just went up to see what the falls looked like but not enough water was in them and the falls weren't frozed stiff.

My anual mileage runs around 50 to 60k. 225,000 miles on a Toyota. When I hit 300,000 I'll be in the commercial jumping in the air. I guess that was an 80's commercial?

Floris, you know you get around when you're at a senior citizen Karaoke bar in some weird town.

I have a Camry with 269,000 miles on it. I figure it could die tomorrow or keep going and going. Who knows? So far, it still runs great and smooth. Toyota makes a great vehicle.

Love to get to this part of the state some day. I've been around a few times in the last year but haven't made it there yet. Maybe this summer. Like the comp alot, there is something to be said about a winding road as it always inspires. Look forward to seeing more from here.
