My first Duraplaq's

I received my first Duraplaqs today and I have to tell you that I am blown away by them. I have had work done by other vendors in town and these are hands down the best quality photographic laminates I have ever seen. The one thing that annoys me now is I am trying to figure out just how I am going to get the rest of my stuff redone to look like these (those of you who have been to my home know that is going to be quite a task). Tim talked with me about his process and how much time he spent researching his process. All I can say is it is freakin stunning. Anybody who wants to see it just give me a call/email and I'll show you examples of all of the vendors in town since I have em all on my walls. He also said to me that Photocraft in Boulder is now a dropoff/pickup point for his services. As I have said before I am willing to let others drop off and pick up stuff from my home in SE Denver/Aurora if you would like to try out Duraplaq's services. I am not getting anything in return for the service. I just want to make darn sure that we dont lose a great service again like we did with Artist's Showcase.

Stop by sometime and take a look.

That's excellent news, RichieV! Thanks for being the guinea pig.

Hey Richie, you guys up north have all the fun! I don't think there is any one near the Springs that does plaque mounts. So a drop off point would be better than driving all the wy up to LM or FC. What types of papers work best with their process? I was just about ready to give AS a try when the folded.

I'd be interested in knowing the best paper also. I've tried Epson Premium Lustre with mixed results. Did you say he is willing to discount also Rich?

Aaron brothers does plaque mounts here in the springs (I'm sure they ship it out), but I don't think they look all that good and they're pretty expensive.

There are lots of reasons to be frustrated as a photographer in the Springs. There is no pro lab in town, so everything has to be mailed (adds $16 round trip). The framing services are pretty expensive. There are some nice shops here like Cameraworks and Godec's, but the lack of lab and competent printing services is frustrating.

Mel,

Talk to Tim. I was asking him about the springs yesterday and he might be willing to make that run. You really got to get up here and see these. I printed them on Epson Prem Luster and he was explaining to me that there are really only 2 manufacturers that have laminates that are for photographic fine art. The ones he did look so much better than the rest of mine around the house.

Thank for sharing this Richie. I was happy to see that their pricing is better than what I've been paying elsewhere. Has anyone tried out the Aluma or Plexi options? Just curious.

Amen to Tim's work. I've been using him for just a few months now, and his work and attitude is top notch.
His new location just off I-25 and 66 in Longmont is and easy shot from Denver.

How many did you do and what were they? I just uploaded 4 more files for printing and mounting yesterday. This will make a total of 14 I've had them do with 5 of 'em being for someone else. Ditto what Rich says. The fact that they are so easy to deal with is icing on the cake. I really love their file upload/print services since I live in Hooterville, plus they do a stellar job.
