Can anybody help me with a somewhat "technical" answer to this question. Why does the fall color last longer at Chimney Rock than the surrounding area? I know it has to do with the lay of the land...but what specifically causes it. I'm working on an article for the fall issue of Nature Photographer and would like to include this information. I've contacted the park via their web site but those type of responses usually take a while to come back to you.
Any help is appreciated.
I live near Chimney Rock and have never really noticed this. The only thing I can think of is that we are in the Isothermal Belt... an area of milder weather. Perhaps that has something to do with it.
