iso 100, 70-200 at 180, VR off, 1 sec., f12, windy and raining, playing around with Orton effect on the falls. looks better as a tif.
thanks for comments.

You employed just the right amount of Orton to my eye. Nice comp too, making the most of simple elements. The large tree covering the base of the left falls will bother some; actually I don't mind it. The only suggestion I would make is try to tease a little more detail out of the dark hollows behind the falls.

Really nice David, and I like the Orton effect here a lot. I agree with Marc about a tad more detail around the dark part of the falls.

I think the darker backdrop around the falls is fine, you don't want to take too much contrast away from that area. What bugs me more than anything is the upper left corner. Its noticeably brighter than the rest of the area, whether it was lingering mist or just the result of compression of the scene it distracts me. Crop it or burn it and this shot will be money.

I prefer the darker, mistier feel of the foliage in the first post, but you did get some additional detail behind the falls here.

I totally agree with Bryan and David. Fix the corner and leave the dark that is accentuating the falls. Perfect use of the Orton Effect too. I really like this one David, well done.
I like #1 better. The burn of the ulc worked well in #2, though; the area around the falls is now too light.
Another thought... take off about an inch of the left side, use a little lighter touch on lightening the area around the falls. The symmetry in that comp is appealing to me without centering the falls. As I said, just a thought. It's a really cool shot with great potential!

Very nicely done, David. I lived in Hawaii for many years, have seen lots of photos of these falls and tried to capture it myself a number of times. Yours is the best I've seen. I, too, prefer #1, but with a little darkening on the upper left. Maybe just a bit of edge vignetting all around.

I think I probably overdid it heere. After fixing the ULC, lightened the dark area around the falls, and then made the mistake of adding some sharpening which basically blew the whole Orton effect.
I would add another repost here but few would look...
