A Good Friday morning at Sprauge

While Eric was locking his keys in his truck I was above the fog watching sunrise with the ducks up at Sprauge. And he says that he was the first car into the park this morning. Also saw what appears to be some bobcat tracks in the patches of fresh snow around the lake.

As I worked my way to the eastern shore I stopped at the familiar stump and waited for the glow to reach the wave clouds above. The pink glow was nice, but passed too quickly.

C&C welcome :wavey:

Hi Steve, I really like the pink of the sky here. I have one sugestion now this is my perspective, but next time have the stump be more prominent in the foreground. Still a good image and if you crop the image about a cm below the stump it would be fine. just my two cents. :wavey:

Isn't that always the truth! Great shot, Steve. I think Stumpy is fine right where he is.

Looks like you found some good color and you beat me into the park. I was at the entrance at about sunrise shooting the breaking fog on the Divide but it looks like you were in a better position. Steve, I would crop about a third of the bottom and maybe clone out the bit of stick on the middle left. The color is really something!

Thanks for the comments so far. This one was straight from the camera with a little bump to the saturation and contrast to compensate for the kit lens. I was wanting to crop up as well as I don't like the stone in the bottom right corner, but it was quicker to post the image as it sat.

The crop up from the bottom suggestions point to my need to work on my composition in the field next time so I don't have to crop in LR.

Great colors! I would crop some of the bottom out which would get rid of the obstruction on the bottom right of the image. Also as Erik said crop out the stick on the left of the log.

Between you and Erik, it looks like it was a very interesting morning at RMNP and both of you came away with drastically different images. You got some insane color in this one. I guess that small branch is a little distracting on the left but I like everything else.

Finally you got some great clouds and colour, and without me - maybe I'm the jinx  . I agree with cropping maybe half way from bottom to stump, then you have a winner!. Very nice Steve!.
I may shoot up there Monday Morning now, since I had to swap days, let me know if you want to join me?.

Sweet color there, Steven. I agree with the crop suggestions too. Don't you just love that log? I check it out every time I go to Sprague. It could be web compression, but this looks a bit soft to me.

Nice colors Steve. I really like the wind swept clouds.

Thanks for the comments everyone. I cropped up from the bottom and in a little from the left as well as painting out the remaining section of branch. Looks fantastic! I'll have to print and frame this one.

Paul - the posted image could be a little soft as I try not to over sharpen. I'll take a look at it when I get through this busy weekend. Thanks for pointing this out.
