Canyon Glow
Working with an overexposed image from Spooky Slot in the SW, I liked the swirls in the wall here and wanted to get your opinions...

Rick, was this a very overcast day? Seems to lack the shimmery, luminous quality that I see in so many of these type of pix. I like the comp, but I think it needs a bit more life.

I agree, the swirls are a great feature, especially the bottom 2/3.

The color on this is really interesting to me, almost orange mono-toned. Because slot canyon shots are way too overdone, I like seeing something different. But I'm not sure if this is the answer, it is almost bland along the lines that Marc suggests.

I like this as is. There is visible detail in the shadows and the midtone areas show excellent texture....trying to increase the luminous quality may sacrifice some of what makes this appealing.

I like it just how it is too. It motivates me because I'll be in the southwest in a little over a week!

I'm in favor of this as shown, too, Rick. This appeals to me as a "real world" image of the area. It has good detail, a sweeping depth to the composition, and there's even an optical illusion in there that took me awhile to figure out. In short, there's lot's to see and a high interest factor to this image; relief from being blown away by color!

Very nice, Rick. The texture detail really makes it for me along with the swirls.

I like it how it is. Looks great on my monitor....plenty of color. When I first saw this on my laptop, it was a little flat, but still had all the forms and shades to keep interest.
