dung fly portrait
At last, a Springline day; and a few hardy insects on which to test my new macro flash set up. Hitherto, I've alays relied on natural light for insect work but I am reasonably pleased with these early shots with the SB-R200s and look forward to lots more playing as the season progresses.

D300 w. Sigma 150mm & kenko 36mm ext. tube
2 x Nikon SB-R200 flashes
1/60 @ f 18 ISO 800 handheld

looks good to me Malcolm. The reflective areas next to the eyes are perhaps the only slight give away that flash was used but it's always tricky to control the highlights on those parts of dung flies. Otherwise good exposure and details. May I ask how you diffused the flash?
